Under house addition

This was a complex and highly detailed project, where we were directly engaged by the client to construct the addition based on their architectural plans. The project presented several challenges, including excavating under the existing house into rock. We also required further reinforcing to the existing structure above due to removal of the existing supports. Access was difficult due to the steep slope of the property. Furthermore we needed to address the potential for water seepage through the rock into the new building. The floor slab incorporated hydronic heating beneath a polished concrete surface, with custom stone supplied by the client and installed by our team. Given the build's location in a flame zone, all materials and construction practices had to meet the highest standards. The addition included a living area, bathroom, separate laundry, and office, with access to the ground floor provided by a custom steel and hardwood stair with glass balustrades
